The clay is painted with an iorn oxide slip then carved through to reveal the lighter clay body, a technique called sgraffito.

Tasha Tudor lived and wrote in Marlboro Vermont. She was one of several portraits I did for this project.

I draw over a printed photo to get the basic contours of the portrait and to get the letters laid out then carve out the details. I am happy to take commissions for portraits. $300 for a 10" round or square ceramic sgraffito carved portrait with wooden wall mount.

My Husband Rolf has been the lead Historian for the Brattleboro Words Trail and has spent many many hours looking into old newspapers and publications. His primary interest was Brattleboro in the 1800s . He has unearthed many local stories.
